Every Thursday, El Paso Running will utilize a point system to highlight El Paso’s top boy’s cross country runners.
The system is as follows: In a race of less than 150 runners, first place gets 10 points, second gets 9 points all the way down to 10th place which gets 1 point. For meets with between 150 to 300 runners, double points will be rewarded meaning 20 points for first, 19 for second all the way down to 1 point for 20th. For every additional 150 runners, another 10 runners will be included in the points.
For those who like raw times, we also list the Top 25 boys race times and the meets and dates that they occurred.

Mt. View/Fabens Invitational: 8 a.m. at Mt. View High School. Austin, Burges, Jefferson, El Paso, Mt View, Harmony, Horizon, YWLA, Canutillo, Eastlake, El Dorado, Del Valle, San Elizario, Montwood, Anthony, Tornillo and Irvin.
Montwood Invitational: 8 a.m. at Blackie Cheser Park. Andress, Austin, Chapin, Coronado, Bowie, Pebble Hills, Americas, Socorro, Bel Air, Cathedral, Clint, LPI, Loretto, Riverside and Hanks.

Top 10
1. Eastwood: The Troopers easily won the Stars & Strides Twilight Invitational, scoring 37 points in the 20 team, 157 runner race at the Eastside Sports Complex. Senior Danny Torres finished second behind Organ Mountain senior Corbin Coombs who won in 14:57.38, two seconds ahead of Torres’ 14:59.71. Four Eastwood runners finished in the top 10 and six in the top 18. Top 10 runners were senior Marcos Madrid (seventh, 16:02.50), sophomore Noah Loweree (eighth, 16:03.40) and junior Job DeSantos (ninth, 16:07.76). Senior Luke Cruz was 11th in 16:10.27 and sophomore Elias Alcocer was 18th in 16:39.30. The Troopers are not racing this weekend.
2. Franklin: The Cougars were a distant second at the Stars & Strides Twilight Invitational, scoring 89 points. Franklin managed to get three runners in the top 20 – junior Jacob Martinez was tenth in 16:08.40, junior Sebastian Mendez was 13th in 16:25.10 and junior Fransisco Medina was 19th in 16:42.17. The team is not racing this weekend.
3. Burges: The Mustangs were fifth with 137 points at the Stars & Strides Twilight Invitational, placing two runners in the top 20. Senior Jesus Gastelum-Bustamante was 14th in 16:26.85 and senior Malin Arnoldussen was 16th in 16:37.54. The team will race the Mt. View/Fabens Invitational on Saturday.
4. Pebble Hills: The Spartans did not race last weekend. They are scheduled to race the Montwood Invitational at Blackie Cheser Park on Saturday.
5. Coronado: Junior Humberto Serna finished fifth in 15:55.06 at Eastwood’s Stars & Strides Twilight Invitational. Junior Rodrigo Pinales was 17th in 16:37.58 to help the T-Birds finish sixth with 180 points. The team will compete at the Montwood Invitational at Blackie Cheser Park on Saturday.
6. El Paso High: The Tigers scored 240 points and finished seventh at the Stars & Strides Twilight Invitational. Senior Miles Westbrook continues his strong season, finishing fourth in 15:47.50. They are expected to race the Mt. View/Fabens Invitational on Saturday.
7. Eastlake: The Falcons jump back in the top 10 after finishing eighth at the Stars & Strides Twilight Invitational with 284 points. Eastlake’s top runner was junior Diego Romero-Alvarado was 57th in 17:55.00. Eastlake will race not race its varsity this weekend.
8. San Elizario: The Eagles were ninth at the Eastwood Twilight Invitational, finishing with 302 points. Junior Antonio Arreola came at 25th place in 16:58.57. The team is schedule to race the Mt. View/Fabens Invitational on Saturday.
9. Hanks: The Knights move up one after its tenth-place finish at the Eastwood Twilight Invitational, two points behind San Elizario. Junior Zerach Hernandez was 34th in 17:11.64. The team will race the Montwood Invitational at Blackie Cheser Park on Saturday.
10. Austin: The Panthers finished 11th at the Eastwood Twilight Invitational with 312 points. Junior Eirik Arredondo was the top runner, placing 40th in 17:26.09. Austin will race at the Montwood Invitational at Blackie Cheser Park on Saturday.
Dropped out: Americas.
