Every Thursday, El Paso Running will utilize a point system to highlight El Paso’s top boy’s cross country runners.
The system is as follows: In a race of less than 150 runners, first place gets 10 points, second gets 9 points all the way down to 10th place which gets 1 point. For meets with between 150 to 300 runners, double points will be rewarded meaning 20 points for first, 19 for second all the way down to 1 point for 20th. For every additional 150 runners, another 10 runners will be included in the points.

Top 10
1. Eastwood: Eastwood scored 18 points as it placed seven runners in the top 10 to win the Cathedral/Loretto Invitational at Veterans Park. Junior Noah Loweree won is fourth individual gold winning in 15:33.23. Sophomore Noah Garcia was second (15:43.47), junior Elias Alcocer was fourth in 15:49.83, sophomore Jacob Lara was fifth (15:55.30), senior Job DeSantos was sixth in 16:00.30, senior Jonah Herd Jr. was eighth in 16:08.28 and senior Evan Chacon was ninth in 16:13.76. Eastwood will race at the Franklin Invitational Friday at Mary Keisling Park.
2. Franklin: The Cougars did not race last week. They are hosting their own invitational Friday at Mary Keisling Park.
3. Coronado: The T-Birds did not race last week. Coronado will race at the Franklin Invitational Friday at Mary Keisling Park.
4. Pebble Hills: The Spartans did not race its full varsity at the Cathedral/Loretto Invitational. They are scheduled to race at Nike South Friday night in College Station.
5. Montwood: The Rams move up two spots after finishing second at the Cathedral/Loretto Invitational at Veterans Park with 70 points. Senior Julian Franco was third in 15:46.21, a season best for him. It’s only other top 20 runner was junior Anthony Mediano (18th, 16:59.48). Montwood will race the McNeil Invitational Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
6. San Elizario: The Eagles drop a spot, finishing third at the Cathedral/Loretto Invitational with 80 points. Senior Antonio Arreola was seventh in 16:02.91 and junior Angel Bocanegra was 19th in 17:00.10. San Elizario will race the Clint/Riverside Invitational Saturday at Clint High School.
7. Socorro: The Bulldogs did not race last weekend. The team is scheduled to run at the Franklin Invitational Friday at Mary Keisling Park.
8. Hanks: The Knights move up one by winning the El Paso Invitational at Blackie Chesher with 40 points. The team’s sixth runner crossed the line before El Paso High’s runner to seal the victory. Hanks had three runners in the top 5 — senior Darian Hernandez was second in 16:20.80, sophomore Mateo Diaz was third (16:23.98) and senior Zerach Hernandez was fifth in 16:43.30. Hanks will race at the McNeil Invitational Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
9. El Paso High: The Tigers were second at their own invitational at Blackie Chesher. Sophomore Andrew Truax won his second individual title in 15:27.62. Junior Logan Luchenbill was sixth in 16:49.05 and junior Aidan Banuelos was tenth (17:12.14). El Paso is racing at Nike South Friday night in College Station.
10. Bel Air: The Highlanders make its season debut after its third-place finish at the El Paso High Invitational, finishing with 74 points. Senior Jonah Fraire was eighth in 17:02.62 and junior Angel Chavez was ninth in 17:05.26. Bel Air will race the Clint/Riverside Invitational Saturday at Clint High School.
