UPDATE: Boys Track and Field Top 10 Times and Distances, Week 4

THIS POST REFLECTS COMPLETE FRANKLIN INVITATIONAL RESULTS

Five city-best times and marks were accomplished last weekend at the Franklin, Bel Air Big Red and Mt. View invitationals.

Socorro’s Juan Alvarado came from 10th in the city to No. 1 in the discus with a toss of 144-feet, 10-inches at the Mt. View Invitational.

Rodger Rivera from Hanks set a city best in the 3,200-meter run with a 9:24.21 at the Bel Air Big Red Invitational.

Del Valle’s Austin Lara vaulted 13-feet, 3-inches in the pole vault at the Bel Air Big Red Invitational.

Dereck Parris-Constance from Franklin improved on his own time in the 300-meter hurdles, racing to a 39.82 at the Franklin Invitational.

Pebble Hills Isaiah Davis set a new city best of 10.84 in the 100-meters at the Mt. View Invitational.

My love of running began with my son Deric. His passion and talent for distance running opened my eyes to a sport I never imaged I would embrace with such enthusiasm. As a journalist at the El Paso Times, I was the lead writer for cross country and track for several years and I was able to tell the stories of these amazing unsung athletes. Never a runner myself, I decided to change that when I turned 50 in 2016 when I trained for my first 5K. I've been running ever since and I love every minute of it - well - sort of.
