Two relay teams – Eastwood’s 400 and Montwood’s 1,600 – set city best marks last week. Eastwood’s Lauryn Barlow, Elizabeth Ward, Faye Humphrey-Griffith and Kayleigh Walton improved on their own time and ran a 49.23 at the Americas Invitational while the Montwood team of Mariana Porras, Karen Van Valen, Sofia Ramirez and Camilla Gonzalez ran a 4:06.45.
Other top performances are:
*Coronado’s Jennelle Jaeger-Darakly, 2:14.35 in the 800-meter run.
*Chapin’s Plea Rohlac, 46.73 in the 300-meter hurdles.
*Chapin’s Cyan Cooper, 25.93 in the 200-meter dash.
*Franklin’s Kara Marcantel, 17-feet, 9.5 inches in the long jump.
*Chapin’s Meghan Tualamalii, 40-feet, 6 inches in the shot put.
Eastlake senior Aeriel Garcia ran a personal best 5:10.38 in the 1,600-meter run at the Chandler Rotary Invitational in Arizona. Garcia, who signed with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, took over the city’s top spot in the 1,600 with that result.

Two city-best performances occurred at out-of-town meets this past week.
Jefferson’s Karen Villa’s 46.83 time in the 300 hurdles at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson earned her top honors in the city as did Americas distance runner Marian Guzman’s 5:11.27 time in the 1,600-meter run at the Texas Distance Festival at Southlake.
Other city best performances this week are Soledad Borgstadt from Horizon who improved on her time of 12.74 in the 100-meter run, finishing at 12:42 at the UTEP Invitational and Chapin triple jumper athlete Eireann Donohoe who leaped 36-feet, 2 inches to better her own distance.
